Playing with lines - somewhere between photography and drawing.

Influenced by drawing, I also find inspiration for my photographic works in nature itself: I observe roots, branches, reeds and water and discover their shapes, their harmoniously interwoven structures, lines.

These are the same patterns I look for in drawing: the line and the contrasts. In many of my drawings - especially in "blind drawing" - I try to reduce everything to a few lines and strokes to achieve a kind of a „shorthand of drawing", as I like to call it. 

The lines vary in width, direction and length, define shapes and figures, but also depict movement and emotion through their character and direction: horizontal lines, for example, indicate a sense of calm and peace. Vertical lines imply stability and diagonal lines, on the other hand, suggest movement and fluidity. 

The line is also present in my photographic work titled „On Nature“.  In a game of reflection and inversion, I interpolate the templates and give them new forms, transforming them into new structures and compositions until I find a new harmony of lines and contrasts. Roots and branches are to me the original basis of forms and shapes. I find amazing things in nature. And it is here, on my walks in nature, that I find peace.
