Loosening the Braid, 65x100cm, digital photography, 2022

The starting point for this work is the fairy tale of Rapunzel. According to the interpretations of the fairy tale, the braiding of the 3 strands into a plait refers to the countless generations of women or mothers - daughter/mother/grandmother relationship. Here I think of the heritage of paradigms that is preserved and unconsciously passed on from generation to generation. A heritage that I can accept, reject or transform.

Sangre de Bodas, 2020, digital photography, 30x40 cm

The 2020 photographic artwork ‘Sangre de Bodas’ (Wedding Blood) is a profound exploration of cultural heritage, femininity and the intimate connection between the body and sexuality. This 30x40 cm digital photograph explores the layers of tradition and the complex emotions that women inherit and pass down through generations.

The title ‘Sangre de Bodas’ evokes powerful images of rituals, bloodlines and the deep-rooted customs surrounding marriage and womanhood. It refers to the fusion of life and tradition, with blood symbolising both lineage and the physical reality of the female body. The photograph captures this duality by harmonising the sacred and the vulnerable, the inherited and the personal.
